Hello, dear amber friends and lovers of innovative jewellery designs! In April, 2006 the amber workshop in Cuxhaven-Duhnen opened its doors. The first may already ask themselves how this goes! Amber and innovative design in a breath? I admit, the amber has just with the younger generation a bad state and is as a granny's jewellery disreputable. Now, nevertheless, this fascinating substance experiences an aesthetic quantum leap because a small small heap of courageous amber grinders decided to release the fossil resin from his dawn existence in grandmothers jewellery casket and supply to a Renaissance.

Amber is a fascinating material. The resin of more than 40 million year old, longest extinct types of tree, lies preserved in front of us. It contains a row of ethereal active substances which are released in particular by the treatment, but also while carrying on the skin. Daily I inhale the smell of the past ages - the resinous smell of the Baltic amber woods which were settled once in the area of the young Baltic Sea. The smell inspires me to the creating of new forms in which the amber finds the way back symbolically to his origin. The fossil resin is embedded in combination with different wood really in his original element from which it is descended. Amber is descended from the trunks of the amber pine, which produced on account of not known phenomena an especially high seclusion in resins, showing in every single piece of amber its quite peculiar structure. In my work, I try to protect the genuineness of the material.
